Dr. Julie Hwang is a licensed MFT (LMFT 53226) and a psychologist. She has over 13+ years of clinical experience in a wide range of different therapeutic settings. Some of the settings she has worked in is mental health hospitals, outpatient clinics, family service clinics, dual diagnosis treatment centers, forensic hospitals, help hotlines, school settings, and emergency rooms.
She specializes with couples and relationship issues, individuals with anxiety and depression, child-related issues, self-esteem, sexual dysfunction issues, job/career related and codependency issues. She has worked with many couples and helped transformed their relationship/communication issues. Additionally, she has found helping individuals with their issues in general has produced success in all aspect of their life.
She believes that happiness and well-being can be attained through the renewal of emotions to a more positive state. She finds that changing the patterns of negative thoughts, emotions, and belief systems often empowers the clients to seek alternative solutions and change of perspective to author a new story for one’s life. Often these changes produces success and fulfillment. Dr. Hwang has found that if one works on their emotional baggage and help them release their issues, they find the fulfillment they are looking for.
Dr. Hwang is very flexible, compassionate, creative and emotionally focused in helping others. She is eclectic and often borrows from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused therapy (EFT) for couples, Narrative, and Solution Focused Therapy.
Dr. Hwang has attended University of California, Irvine, Boston University and received her PsyD at California School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Hwang is member of CAMFT and AAMFT.
