Anxiety/Depression

Often when we start to fall into depression or anxiety, we don’t realize we are falling into that zone.  Thus, becoming more aware of your own markers will help you quickly from falling further into it. Basically when you start to see some signals or signs, it can indicate to you that you might be in the anxiety or depression state.

What are your specific markers when you start to fall into depression, anxiety, or any type of mental disorder?

heart palpitations

racing thoughts

crying spells

negative thoughts

irritability

frustration

apathy

lack of self-care

hygienic issues

lack of self-worth

lack of motivation/concentration

feeling like going crazy

overthinking

sleeplessness/restlessness/tiredness

sleeping too much

appetite changes

anhedonia (finding no pleasure in things)

hopelessness

irrational beliefs

intrusive thoughts

ruminations

feeling sad, or low mood.

When you begin to notice or pick up on some of these markers, that is an indicator I give to my clients to begin using their Proactive Plan. A Proactive plan is a series of coping skills that I help my clients tailor their symptoms with coping skills that work for them along with what the research indicates would be beneficial.

For example, a client who is depressed can have a Proactive plan where they meditate every morning, journal their thoughts, exercise and do therapy once a week. Depending on what works for the client, through a series of trial and error records of it, the Plan will be tailored to the best possible outcome.
