What are emotions?

Most individuals struggle with expressing their emotions to others. This happens because it makes most of us feel vulnerable, not ready, and uncomfortable to do so. One reason individuals bottle it inside of them is to protect themselves for feeling all of their past pain and hurts. At the moment you may feel more in control, but it is a temporary fix. Suppression will begin to manifest slowly in your life, without you realizing it. It can cause more harm than good.

Without proper expression of emotions, the body starts to produce anxiety and depression, affecting your relationships. Emotions are important because they need to be expressed and processed, or it’ll be stuck within our body and mind. It needs to flow freely and felt through. When it is contained, it’ll be expressed in other ways, often we see as being mentally disordered or ill. Metaphorically emotions can be seen as air for the soul or water to the body, when it builds up too long in one place, you will burst and suffocate yourself over time.
